Best Vanilla Ice Cream - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 eggs, beaten
    3 c. milk
    2 c. sugar
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 (12 oz.) can chilled evaporated milk
    1 Tbsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Combine eggs, milk and sugar in a large heavy saucepan.
    Cook over low heat until mixture thickens, stirring constantly.
    Remove from heat and cool.
    Stir salt and remaining ingredients into egg mixture.
    Pour mixture into freezer can of a 1 gallon ice cream freezer, hand turned or electric.
    Freeze according to manufacturer's instructions.
    Let ripen at least 1 hour before serving.
    Yield about 3 quarts and will serve 6.
