Emporium Walnut Pie - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. sugar
    1 c. water
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 1/2 sticks butter
    1 c. walnuts
    1 tsp. vanilla
    6 egg yolks from large eggs or 4 yolks and 2 whole eggs
Preparation
    Boil sugar, water and salt together until syrup reaches 235\u00b0 on candy thermometer.
    Add butter and boil until bubbles are yellow. Cool to room temperature.
    Add vanilla and eggs; beat good.
    Place walnuts in the bottom of a 9-inch unbaked pie shell.
    Pour mixture over walnuts and bake at 325\u00b0 for 55 minutes.
    This is a great pie for a hostess gift.
    Keeps well and is practically indistructable.
