Hawaiian Spareribs(Makes 6 Servings) - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 lb. spareribs
    2 Tbsp. shortening
    1 clove garlic, chopped
    1 tsp. ginger
    1/4 c. soy sauce
    1/2 c. vinegar
    2 Tbsp. sugar
    2 c. hot water
    2 Tbsp. cornstarch
Preparation
    Cut ribs in 2 inch pieces; brown in hot shortening.
    Combine garlic, ginger, soy sauce, vinegar and sugar and pour over ribs. Add hot water.
    Simmer until meat is tender, about 45 minutes. Remove meat and thicken liquid in pan with cornstarch.
    Reheat ribs in gravy and serve with rice.
