Picante Sauce - cooking recipe
Ingredients

4 qt. tomatoes
2 c. chopped onion
2 c. hot pepper
1 c. sugar
1 Tbsp. salt
2 1/2 c. vinegar
Preparation

Peel, core and chop tomatoes.
Combine tomatoes, onion, hot pepper, sugar and salt; cook gently for 45 minutes.
As mixture thickens, stir frequently.
Add vinegar and cook slowly until as thick as desired.
Pour boiling hot sauce into hot pint jars. Adjust lids.
Process 15 minutes in boiling water bath.
