Oatmeal Apple Cake - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 c. oats (uncooked)
1 c. flour
3/4 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. ground allspice (cinnamon and nutmeg a good substitute)
1 c. sugar
1/2 c. oil
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. peeled, diced cooking apples
1/3 c. chopped walnuts (optional)
Preparation

Combine and set aside the first 5 ingredients.
Combine and stir well the next 4 ingredients.
Add sugar mixture to dry mixture.
Add apples and nuts.
If batter is much too thick, add a very small amount of water.
Spread batter in a greased and floured 8-inch square dish.
Bake at 350\u00b0 for 45 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
Serve plain, with ice cream, or with cream cheese frosting.
Double recipe for a 9 x 13-inch pan.
