Hungarian Pastry - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 eggs, separated
    1 1/4 stick butter or margarine
    1/2 c. sugar
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 1/2 c. flour
    1 Tbsp. baking powder
    1 tsp. baking soda
    1 small jar of jam (any flavor you choose)
    3/4 c. chopped nuts
Preparation
    Beat 2 egg whites.
    Set aside.
    Cream butter and sugar, add vanilla and 2 egg yolks one at a time.
    Sift flour, baking powder and soda; add to creamed mixture a little at a time.
    Spread on 9 x 13 inch cookie sheet with sides.
    Spread jam on crust.
    Add 1/2 cup chopped nuts, and then put beaten egg whites on top. Sprinkle with remaining 1/4 cup chopped nuts.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 20 - 25 minutes.
