Barbara Ann'S Peanut Brittle - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. sugar
    1 c. Karo
    1 c. water
    3 c. peanuts (raw)
    2 Tbsp. butter
    2 tsp. vanilla
    2 tsp. soda
Preparation
    Cook the first 3 ingredients, covered, to 236\u00b0.
    Stir in nuts. Cook to 280\u00b0.
    Add butter.
    Cook to 300\u00b0, stirring.
    Stir in vanilla.
    Add soda.
    Pour in a 9 x 13-inch pan.
    Cool.
    Turn pan upside-down on counter.
    Tap pan gently with hammer to release brittle.
    Break into pieces.
