Rolls - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 Tbsp. soft shortening
    1 pkg. active dry yeast
    1 c. warm (not hot) water
    1 egg
    2 Tbsp. sugar
    1 tsp. salt
    3 c. sifted flour
Preparation
    Dissolve yeast in warm water; stir in sugar and half the flour. Beat until smooth. Add egg, shortening and remaining flour. Mix well.
    Put out on floured pastry board and knead until smooth, adding enough flour to keep from sticking.
    Put in bowl and let rise until double in size (should take about 45 minutes). Turn out on pastry board, knead lightly and shape into rolls. Place in pan and let rise until doubled.
    Bake in preheated oven at 400\u00b0 for 15 to 20 minutes.
    Makes 18 good-sized rolls.
