American Ice Cream - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 Tbsp. flour
    3/4 c. sugar
    2 c. scalded milk
    1 egg or 2 egg yolks, slightly beaten
    2 c. heavy cream
    1/4 tsp. salt
    1 Tbsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Mix flour and sugar thoroughly.
    Add milk slowly and cook over hot water 8 minutes, stirring frequently.
    Add to egg, cook 2 minutes and cool.
    Add cream, salt and vanilla.
    Pour into freezer can and freeze using 8 parts ice to 1 part salt.
    Makes about 1 1/4 quarts.
