Cowboy Casserole - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 lb. ground beef
3 Tbsp. shortening
1 clove garlic
2 1/2 tsp. salt
1 1/4 c. minced onion
1/2 c. minced green pepper
1 tsp. chili powder
1 (20 oz.) can tomatoes
1/2 c. uncooked rice
1 (20 oz.) can kidney beans, undrained
Preparation

Brown ground beef in fat.
Thinly slice garlic; sprinkle with salt and mash thoroughly to pulp.
Add to beef with onion, green pepper and chili powder.
Cook 5 minutes.
Remove from heat and add tomatoes.
Combine rice and beans in 2-quart casserole dish. Add hot beef mixture.
Bake, covered, 1 hour at 350\u00b0.
Serves 6 to 8.
