My Grandmother'S Stewed Shrimp - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 Tbsp. butter
    1 Tbsp. flour
    2 onions, finely chopped
    2 lb. peeled shrimp
    6 tomatoes or 1 3/4 c. canned tomatoes
    1 c. water
    1 green pepper, diced
    1 tsp. fresh thyme or 1/2 tsp. dried thyme
    2 tsp. chopped parsley
    1 bay leaf or 1/2 tsp. powdered bay leaves
    1/2 tsp. garlic salt
    salt and pepper to taste
Preparation
    Melt butter.
    Add flour gradually; cook to a light brown.
    Add onions; saute until golden.
    Add shrimp; mix well.
    Let cool slightly.
    Add tomatoes, water, green pepper and seasoning.
    Cook, stirring frequently, for 20 minutes.
    Serve over rice.
    Serves 8.
