Poppy Seed Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. ground poppy seed
    3/4 c. hot milk
    3/4 c. shortening
    1 1/2 c. sugar
    3 c. sifted flour
    4 1/2 tsp. baking powder
    3/4 tsp. salt
    3/4 c. milk
    1 c. egg whites
    3/4 c. sugar
    1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Poppy seed can be ground in a coffee grinder.
    Add the hot milk and let soak overnight.
    Next day, cream shortening and sugar.
    Mix in poppy seed-milk mixture.
    Sift dry ingredients: flour, baking powder and salt; add alternately with the milk.
