Philadelphia Butterscotch Sauce - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. dark Karo
    1 c. sugar
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 c. evaporated milk
    2 Tbsp. butter
Preparation
    Mix syrup, milk and sugar in double boiler until sugar is dissolved.
    Cook, uncovered, for 1 hour, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat.
    Stir in butter and vanilla.
    Beat for 30 minutes or until thick.
    Serve over ice cream or pound cake. Makes 2 cups.
