Orange Slice Cake - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 c. butter or margarine
2 c. sugar
4 eggs
1 tsp. soda
1/2 c. buttermilk
3 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
1 lb. dates, chopped
1 lb. candy orange slices, chopped
2 c. chopped pecans
1 c. flaked coconut
1 c. orange juice
2 c. powdered sugar
Preparation

Cream butter and sugar until smooth.
Add eggs, one at a time; beat well after each.
Dissolve soda in buttermilk.
Add to mixture.
Place flour in large bowl.
Add dates, orange slices and nuts.
Stir to coat each piece.
Add this mixture with coconut to creamed mixture.
This makes very stiff dough.
Mix with hands. Put in a greased and floured pan.
Bake at 250\u00b0 for 2 1/2 hours. Combine orange juice and powdered sugar.
Pour over cake while hot. Let stand in pan overnight.
Cake keeps well.
Better after a few days.
