Banana Cake - cooking recipe

1 2/3 c. sugar
2/3 c. shortening
2 eggs
1 1/4 c. mashed bananas (3 to 4)
1 tsp. vanilla
2 c. plus 2 Tbsp. all-purpose flour
1 1/4 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
2/3 c. buttermilk or sour milk
2/3 c. chopped nuts
Preparation

Cream sugar, shortening and eggs until light. Add mashed bananas and vanilla. Mix well. Set aside. Mix flour (not sifted), baking powder, soda and salt. Stir to blend. Add blended dry ingredients to creamed mixture alternately with buttermilk. Stir in nutmeats. Pour into 2 greased 9-inch layer pans or a well-greased 9 x 13-inch pan. Bake at 350\u00b0 for 45 to 50 minutes.
