Cherokee Casserole - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 lb. ground beef
    3/4 c. finely chopped onion
    1 1/2 tsp. salt
    dash of pepper
    1/2 small bay leaf
    1/8 tsp. garlic powder
    1/8 tsp. thyme
    1/8 tsp. oregano
    1 (1 lb.) tomatoes or juice
    1 can condensed cream of mushroom soup
    1 c. Minute rice
    6 stuffed olives, sliced
    American cheese
Preparation
    Brown meat; drain.
    Add onion; cook until tender.
    Stir in ingredients in order given, except 3 of the olives and cheese. Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
    Spoon into baking dish and top with cheese.
    Broil until cheese is melted.
    Garnish with olives.
    Serves 4 to 6.
