Sweetened Dill Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 qt. kosher dill pickles
    1 1/2 c. sugar
    1/2 c. water
    3/4 c. vinegar
    1/4 to 1/2 tsp. powdered alum
Preparation
    Drain liquid from pickles.
    Quarter pickles.
    Bring other ingredients to a boil and pour over pickles.
    Let stand 24 hours. Put pickles back in jar and pour hot liquid in over them.
    Seal.
