Hot Salt Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    30 cucumbers, sliced
    1 qt. vinegar
    2 qt. water
    3 c. salt
    1 grape leaf (for each jar)
    1/2 tsp. alum
    2 tsp. dill seed
    2 tsp. crushed red pepper
    1 or 2 garlic cloves
Preparation
    Soak cucumbers overnight in cold water.
    Drain.
    Put a grape leaf in bottom of each jar, then pack cucumbers in jars as tight as possible.
    Add alum, dill seed, red pepper and garlic cloves. Bring vinegar, water and salt to boil.
    Pour over cucumbers and seal.
