Gingerbread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. sugar
    1/2 c. butter
    1 egg, beaten
    1 c. molasses
    2 1/2 c. flour
    1/2 tsp. cloves
    1/2 tsp. cinnamon
    1 1/2 tsp. soda
    1 tsp. ginger
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 c. hot water
Preparation
    Cream sugar and butter. Add egg and molasses. Add all dry ingredients. Mix well. Add hot water and beat until smooth. Pour into 9 x 13-inch cake pan (greased and floured). Bake at 325\u00b0 for 35 minutes. Serve with Cool Whip or whipped cream.
