Bread And Butter Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 qt. sliced cucumbers
    3 onions, sliced
    1/3 c. salt
    3 c. vinegar
    5 c. sugar
    1 1/2 tsp. turmeric
    1 1/2 tsp. celery seed
    2 tsp. mustard seed
Preparation
    Cover cucumbers and onions with salt.
    Place ice on top and water; refrigerate for 3 hours.
    Combine remaining ingredients and boil for 1 minute.
    Drain cucumber mixture.
    Place in jars and cover with liquid mixture.
    Seal and bathe 10 minutes.
    Makes approximately 5 pints.
