Scalloped Onions - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    6 large onions, peeled and sliced
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/2 tsp. pepper
    Butter to taste
    Bread crumbs
Preparation
    Slice onions.
    Cook until almost done.\tButter a baking pan. Layer onions with bread crumbs, salt, and pepper.
    Pour white sauce over onions and crumbs.
    Repeat layering until pan is full ending with bread crumbs.
    Dot with butter.
    Bake in moderate oven for 20 to 30 minutes.
