Devil'S Food Cake - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1/2 c. shortening
2 c. brown sugar
2 sq. unsweetened chocolate
2 eggs
2 1/2 c. cake flour or add 2 Tbsp. cornstarch to regular flour
1/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. soda
1/2 c. buttermilk
1/2 c. boiling water
1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation

Cream shortening; add sugar gradually.
Cream until fluffy. Add melted chocolate, then unbeaten eggs.
Beat until light.
Sift flour and measure; add baking powder, salt and soda.
Sift twice more.
Add dry ingredients and milk alternately to creamed mixture, beating between additions.
Add boiling water and vanilla and beat well.
Bake in 2 greased (or sprayed) 9-inch layer pans at 350\u00b0 for 35 minutes.
Cool; frost with Fudge Frosting.
