Braised Steak - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 lb. steak, cut in serving size pieces
    3 medium onions
    1 large apple, peeled, cored and chopped
    2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
    2 tsp. soy sauce
    2 Tbsp. plum jam or preserves
    salt and pepper to taste
Preparation
    Flour and brown steaks in shortening.
    Remove steaks and brown onions
    in
    shortening.
    Add
    remaining ingredients.
    Add water to
    make as much gravy as you desire (don't start adding too much water at the beginning) as it cooks.
    Simmer for three hours. Cool
    overnight.
    Skim
    off fat;
    thicken with flour or cornstarch.
