Scotchies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. flour
    1/2 tsp. baking soda
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/2 c. shortening
    1 c. quick cooking oats
    1/2 c. chopped pecans
    1 c. brown sugar
    1 egg
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 c. shredded coconut
Preparation
    Sift together the flour, soda and salt.
    Cream shortening; beat in sugar slowly.
    Add egg and vanilla; beat until light and fluffy.
    Stir in flour mixture, then the oats, pecans and coconut. Drop from a teaspoon onto greased cookie sheets.
    Flatten to 1/8-inch thick with bottom of a glass dipped in flour.
    Bake at 325\u00b0 for 12 to 15 minutes.
    Remove from pan immediately.
    (I always used to bake 2 or 3 batches at once.
    My family could really make them disappear!)
