Ellen'S Fruit Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 1/2 cubes butter
    2 c. white sugar
    1/2 tsp. soda
    1/2 c. boiling water
    1 lb. mixed fruit
    1 pkg. seedless raisins
    2 oz. vanilla
    6 eggs, well beaten
    4 c. flour
    1 lb. walnuts
    1 pkg. candied cherries
Preparation
    Sprinkle 1 tablespoon flour over fruit and mix well.
    Cream the butter and sugar.
    Dissolve soda in boiling water.
    Slowly add vanilla, eggs and flour and mix well.
    Pour the stiff batter over the fruit and mix well with hands.
    Grease pans and line bottoms with brown paper.
    Bake 2 1/2 hours at 250\u00b0.
    Makes 3 to 4 loaves.
