Fried Green Tomatoes, Country Style - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 egg, beaten
    1/2 c. milk
    1 c. cornmeal
    1/4 c. all-purpose flour
    1 tsp. salt
    1/8 tsp. pepper
    4 medium green tomatoes, cut into 1/3-inch slices
    vegetable oil
Preparation
    Combine egg and milk; set aside.
    Mix cornmeal, flour, salt and pepper.
    Dip tomato slices in egg mixture; dredge in cornmeal mixture.
    Heat vegetable oil in a large iron skillet over medium heat.
    Arrange tomato slices in a single layer.
    Cook until golden brown on each side.
    Repeat with remaining slices, adding additional oil as needed.
    Yield:
    6 servings.
