Red Cake - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1/2 c. shortening
1 1/2 c. sugar
2 eggs
2 oz. red food coloring
2 tsp. cocoa
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. salt
1 c. buttermilk
2 1/4 c. cake flour
1 tsp. soda
1 tsp. vinegar
Preparation

Cream shortening, sugar and eggs.
Make a paste of coloring and cocoa.
Add to shortening and sugar.
Add buttermilk alternately with sifted flour and salt.
Add vanilla.
Add soda to vinegar and then add this to other mixture, blending instead of beating.
Bake 25 to 30 minutes in two (8 or 9-inch) greased and floured pans in 350\u00b0 oven.
Cool and split each layer in two and frost.
