Apple Butter - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 doz. medium-size apples (6 lb.)
    2 qt. sweet cider
    3 c. sugar
    1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
    1/2 tsp. cloves
Preparation
    Quarter and stem apples; cook in cider until tender; put through food mill.
    Cook sauce down until it stands up on a teaspoon.
    Add spices and sugar and cook at least an hour more. Put in jars and process 10 minutes (I use pint jars).
    Also, I do this in the late fall after we have a fire in the wood burner so it can cook down on the wood burner.
