Cream Of Broccoli Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 lb. fresh broccoli
    1 c. flour
    1 qt. half and half cream
    1 tsp. salt
    pepper to taste
    8 oz. butter
    1 qt. chicken stock
    1 (6 oz.) jar sliced mushrooms (optional)
Preparation
    Clean broccoli and cut into 1/2 inch pieces.
    Steam in 1/2 cup water until tender.
    Do not drain; set aside.
    Melt butter in large pan over medium heat.
    Add flour, stirring constantly, to make sauce.
    Cook 2 to 4 minutes.
    Add chicken stock; still stirring, bring to a boil.
    Turn heat on low.
    Add broccoli, half and half, salt and pepper.
    Heat slowly; do not let boil again.
    Serves 8.
