Fat-Free Texas Bean Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 (15 oz.) cans red kidney beans, rinsed and drained
    3 c. water
    1 (15 oz.) can corn
    1 (14 oz.) can stewed tomatoes (undrained)
    2 medium carrots, sliced
    1 large onion, chopped
    1 (4 oz.) can diced green chili peppers (undrained)
    1 1/2 tsp. garlic powder
    1 1/2 tsp. chili powder
    1/2 c. either rice or barley (optional)
Preparation
    Mix all ingredients in a 5-quart crock-pot.
    Cover and cook for 10 to 12 hours on low heat or 4 to 5 hours on high heat.
    Add water from time to time, if necessary.
    This can be done in the oven at 250\u00b0 with cover.
