Chow-Chow Relish - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 c. chopped onions
    4 c. chopped cabbage
    10 green tomatoes
    12 green peppers
    6 red peppers
    1/2 c. plain salt
    6 c. sugar
    1 Tbsp. celery seed
    2 Tbsp. mustard seed
    1 1/2 tsp. turmeric
    4 c. vinegar
    2 c. water
Preparation
    Chop vegetables with coarse blade.
    Sprinkle vegetables with 1/2 cup salt.
    Let
    stand overnight.
    Rinse off and drain well. Combine main ingredients.
    Pour over vegetable mixture, heat to a boil and
    simmer three minutes.
    Seal in hot sterilized jars. Yield:
    8 pints.
