Ingredients

1 c. lentils (uncooked)
1 to 2 cloves finely chopped garlic
1 medium finely chopped onion
1 small can tomato paste
1 tsp. sugar
salt and pepper to taste
oil
1/2 lb. spaghetti
Preparation

Check through lentils and discard any miscellaneous seeds or darkened lentils.
Rinse under cold water.
Put lentils in a pan and cover with salted water.
Cook until tender (about 15 to 20 minutes).
In a frypan, saute onions and garlic in oil until tender and slightly brown.
Add tomato paste and sugar to cooked lentils and mix well.
Add onions and garlic.
Mix well.
Add salt and pepper to taste and add water to desired consistency.
