Bran Muffins - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. bran flakes
    1 c. shortening
    4 eggs, beaten
    5 c. flour
    1 qt. buttermilk
    2 c. boiling water
    4 c. all-bran
    3 c. sugar
    5 tsp. baking soda
    1 tsp. salt
    date/raisins (optional)
Preparation
    Pour water over bran and all-bran flakes and soak.
    Cream shortening and sugar.
    Add 4 eggs, soda, flour and salt. Alternately add 1 quart buttermilk and dry ingredients.
    Add dates or raisins if desired.
    Bake at 400\u00b0 for 15 minutes.
