Bread And Butter Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 qt. medium cucumbers, sliced
    6 medium onions, sliced
    1/3 c. salt
    2 Tbsp. mustard seed
    5 c. sugar
    1 1/2 tsp. turmeric
    1 1/2 tsp. celery seed
    3 c. cider vinegar
Preparation
    Don't pare cucumbers.
    Slice then add onions and salt.
    Cover with cracked ice.
    Mix thoroughly.
    Let stand 3 hours and drain. Combine remaining ingredients.
    Pour over cucumbers.
    Heat to a boil.
    Seal in hot, sterilized jars.
    Makes 8 pints.
