Date Pudding - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. chopped dates
    1 c. boiling water
    1/2 c. white sugar
    1/2 c. brown sugar
    1 egg
    2 Tbsp. melted oleo
    1 1/2 c. flour
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. baking soda
    1/2 tsp. baking powder
    1 1/2 c. brown sugar
    1 Tbsp. butter
    1 1/2 c. boiling water
Preparation
    Combine dates and boiling water.
    Mix and let cool.
    Mix white sugar, brown sugar, egg and melted oleo.
    Sift together flour, salt, baking soda and baking powder; combine with sugar mixture and mix well.
    Add dates.
    Pour into greased 11 x 7-inch pan (9 x 9-inch makes cake thicker).
    Combine the 1 1/2 cups brown sugar, 1 tablespoon butter and 1 1/2 cups boiling water.
    Pour over batter. Bake 40 minutes at 375\u00b0.
    Serve with whipped cream.
