Fruit Pound Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. diced mixed fruit
    1 (4 oz.) pkg. pecans, coarsely chopped
    1 c. dark rum
    4 c. sifted flour
    1 tsp. cream of tartar
    1/2 tsp. mace
    1/2 tsp. salt
    8 eggs, separated
    1/2 c. sugar
    2 c. butter
    2 tsp. vanilla
    1 1/2 c. sugar
Preparation
    Mix the first 3 ingredients; let set overnight.
    Combine the flour, cream of tartar, mace and salt.
    Cream together 1/2 cup sugar, the butter and egg yolks.
    Add the vanilla.
    Beat the egg whites with 1 1/2 cups sugar until stiff.
    Blend dry ingredients with the butter mixture.
    Fold in egg whites, then fruit.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 1 hour in 2 greased and floured 9-inch tube pans.
