Christmas Nut Balls - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. shortening
    1/2 c. sugar
    2 1/2 to 3 c. flour
    powdered sugar, sifted
    2 c. finely chopped nuts
    food coloring (optional)
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 tsp. lemon extract
    pinch of salt
    3 Tbsp. rum flavoring
Preparation
    For best results, shortening should be 1/2 butter and 1/2 shortening.
    Cream shortening, sugar and all flavoring.
    Add food coloring.
    Blend in flour, salt and nuts, using your hands.
    The dough will be very stiff.
    Chill 1 hour.
    Shape into 1-inch balls. Bake on ungreased cookie sheet, 15 to 20 minutes at 350\u00b0.
    Roll in powdered sugar while hot.
