Quick Cherry Dessert - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. (2 sticks) butter or margarine
    1 1/2 c. sugar
    4 eggs
    1 tsp. almond extract
    2 c. all-purpose flour
    2 tsp. baking powder
    1 (21 oz.) can cherry pie filling
    powdered sugar to dust over top (optional)
Preparation
    In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar; add the eggs.
    Beat until light and fluffy.
    Add almond extract; stir in flour and baking powder.
    Mix until smooth.
    Butter a 13 x 9-inch cake pan.
    Add mixture.
    Spoon the pie filling into the pan in 16 spots, spacing 4 spoonfuls evenly in each direction.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 45 to 50 minutes until golden brown (batter will rise to the top).
    Sprinkle with powdered sugar and serve.
