Layered Lettuce Salad - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 head lettuce (bite-size pieces)
    1 small red onion, sliced thin
    1/2 c. diced celery
    1/2 c. green pepper, diced
    1 large grated carrot
    1 (10 oz.) pkg. frozen peas (not cooked or thawed)
    2 c. mayonnaise
    2 Tbsp. sugar
    4 oz. grated sharp Cheddar cheese
    8 slices crisp fried bacon, crumbled
Preparation
    Put lettuce in large glass bowl.
    Add remaining vegetables in layers in the order given.
    Spread mayonnaise on top.
    Sprinkle with sugar.
    Add cheese and finally bacon.
    Cover with plastic wrap for 8 to 24 hours.
    Do not stir or season.
