Pasta E Fagioli(Italian Bean Soup) - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    5 c. water
    8 oz. dried beans
    1 large onion, chopped
    1 large tomato or 1 c. tomato sauce
    2 stalks celery, chopped
    1 clove garlic, chopped
    1/4 lb. salt pork, chopped
    1 to 2 c. cooked ham, cut up
    2 tsp. beef bouillon
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/2 c. uncooked pasta (shells)
    grated Parmesan
Preparation
    Heat water and beans to boiling in Dutch oven; boil for 2 minutes.
    Remove from heat.
    Cover; let stand 1 hour.
    Add onion, tomato sauce, celery, garlic, meat, bouillon and salt to beans. Cover and simmer until beans are tender, about 2 hours (do not boil).
    Stir pasta into soup.
    Simmer until pasta is tender, about 10 to 15 minutes.
    Sprinkle with cheese when serving.
    Good with fresh Italian bread.
    Serves 5.
