Berry Granita - cooking recipe
Ingredients
-
3 c. water
1 c. sugar (add more if using tart berries)
1 pt. fresh berries (any type)
1/2 c. fresh orange juice
1/4 c. fresh lemon juice
Preparation
-
In a small saucepan, combine the water and sugar.
Bring to a simmer over medium heat; cook until the sugar is dissolved.
Let cool slightly, then refrigerate until cold.
In a food processor, puree the berries.
Add the sugar syrup and orange and lemon slices; pulse to blend.
Pour the mixture into a chilled 12 x 2-inch metal pan.
Freeze for 30 minutes, or until ice crystals form around the edges.
Stir the ice crystals into the center of the mixture.
Return the pan to the freezer; stir every 30 minutes until all of the liquid is frozen, approximately 2 to 2 1/2 hours. Put in fruit cups; garnish with fresh berries.
