Mexicali Skillet - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 medium onion, chopped
    1 Tbsp. cooking oil
    1 (16 oz.) can tomatoes
    1 (4 oz.) can diced green chili peppers
    1 (15 oz.) can pinto beans
    1 c. water
    2/3 c. long grain rice
    1 tsp. chili powder
    1 (5 oz.) pkg. small smoked sausage links or 16 cocktail frankfurters
    1 c. shredded Cheddar cheese
Preparation
    In a 10-inch skillet, cook onion until tender, but not brown. Cut up tomatoes.
    Add undrained tomatoes, undrained beans, chili peppers, water and uncooked rice to skillet.
    Stir in chili powder.
