Peanut Brittle - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. sugar
    1 c. light corn syrup
    2 c. raw peanuts
    2 Tbsp. butter
    2 tsp. vanilla extract
    2 tsp. soda
Preparation
    Bring 1/2 cup water to a boil in heavy saucepan.
    Add sugar and syrup. Boil until 300\u00b0 on candy thermometer or mixture spins a thread.
    Stir in peanuts.
    Cook until golden brown and peanuts begin to pop.
    Add butter, vanilla and soda.
    Stir down quickly. Pour onto greased cookie sheet, spreading thin.
    Cool.
    Break into small pieces.
