Hot Crusty Biscuits - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 1/2 c. flour
    1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
    2 Tbsp. sugar
    4 tsp. baking powder
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/2 c. plus 1 Tbsp. shortening
    2/3 c. milk
    1 egg
Preparation
    Sift together the first 5 ingredients.
    Cut in the shortening. Add the milk and egg; mix until it flows around bowl.
    Knead 5 to 6 times.
    Roll 1/2-inch thick.
    Place on ungreased baking sheet. Bake at 450\u00b0 for 10 to 12 minutes, or until golden brown.
