Date Rocks - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 c. shortening
1 1/2 c. brown sugar
2 eggs, beaten
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. pitted dates, chopped
1 c. nuts, chopped
2 Tbsp. flour
1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
3 Tbsp. hot water
3 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
Preparation

Mix dates and nuts well with 2 tablespoons of flour.
Cream shortening with brown sugar.
Add eggs and vanilla.
Cream until light and fluffy.
Add soda dissolved in hot water alternately with flour and salt, then add nuts and dates.
Drop by spoonfuls on greased cookie sheet.
Bake in moderately hot oven (375\u00b0) until light brown, about 13 minutes.
Makes 70 cookies.
