7 Day Sweet Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    7 lb. medium size cucumbers
    1 qt. vinegar
    8 c. sugar
    2 Tbsp. salt (not iodized)
    2 Tbsp. pickling spices
Preparation
    Wash cucumbers thoroughly.
    Cover with boiling water.
    Let stand 24 hours and drain well.
    Repeat each day for 4 days, using fresh boiling water each day.
    On the 5th day, cut cucumbers into desired pieces.
    Combine sugar, salt, vinegar and spices.
    Bring to a boil and pour over cucumbers.
    Let stand 24 hours.
    Drain well.
    Bring same syrup to a boil and cover cucumbers.
    Repeat on 6th day.
    On 7th day, drain and again bring syrup to a boil.
    Add cucumbers; bring to a boiling point and put into hot, sterilized jars and seal.
    First few days they look like they will spoil, but they will become very crisp.
