Hardtack Candy - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. white sugar
    3/4 c. Karo syrup (light)
    1 c. water
    1 tsp. any Loraine oil flavoring
    3 drops food coloring
Preparation
    Combine sugar, syrup and water in saucepan; stir until dissolved.
    Cover and cook over high heat until boiling.
    Remove cover; lower heat to medium.
    Continue to cook to hard crack stage (300\u00b0 to 310\u00b0).
    Remove from heat and add flavoring and food coloring.
    Stir to mix.
