Layered Salad - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 head lettuce
    1/2 c. diced celery
    1 diced green pepper
    1 pkg. frozen green peas
    1 small onion, finely chopped
    8 strips bacon
    2 Tbsp. sugar
    2 c. mayonnaise
    4 oz. grated Cheddar cheese
Preparation
    Break lettuce in bottom of 8 x 12-inch dish.
    Layer with celery, green peas, pepper and onion.
    Fry bacon until crisp; crumble between paper towels.
    Stir sugar into mayonnaise; spread over top of vegetables.
    Sprinkle crumbled bacon and cheese over top.
    Best if prepared a day ahead of serving and refrigerated.
