Squash Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    6 qt. chunky cut yellow squash
    6 medium onions, diced
    4 sweet peppers, chopped
    1/2 c. salt
    5 c. sugar
    3 c. vinegar
    1 tsp. celery seed
    1 1/2 tsp. turmeric
    2 tsp. white mustard seed
Preparation
    Mix sugar, vinegar, celery seed, turmeric and mustard seed. Place vegetables in a non-metal container.
    Sprinkle salt over top and let stand 3 hours.
    Rinse with cold water.
    Drain.
