Grandmother'S Lane Cake - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 c. butter
2 c. sugar
1 c. sweet milk
3 1/2 c. flour
8 egg whites
pinch of salt
2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. vanilla or flavoring desired
Preparation

Combine dry ingredients and sift.
Cream butter gradually, adding sugar.
Add dry ingredients and milk alternately.
Stir in vanilla and fold in stiffly beaten egg whites.
Bake in three 9-inch cake pans, greased and floured.
Bake at 375\u00b0 for about 30 minutes, or until done.
Let cool on cake racks.
Put together with the filling.
Cover all with boiled or 7 minute icing.
